We present to you the emblematic hill climb “Shipka Damascena”, taking place in The Valley of Roses, and Thracian Kings.
Shipka peak- Bulgaria’s independence symbol.
Damascena Rose- the symbol of Kazanlak City, as well as youth, and beauty.
In August 1878, Bulgaria’s fate has been determined, at this very peak, as thousands of young people give their lives for freedom. Shipka summit becomes the hallmark of courage and greatness of Bulgarian people.
1978- hundred years later, the first hill climb “Shipka” has been organized, in memory of all heroes, given their lives for their country. Ever since, this race takes place on this very course- highway I-5, in the section between Shipka Town, and Shipka peak.
Some of the great advantages, of the track, are the eight-meter width and outstanding configuration, giving great opportunities for both- drivers and cars to display mastery, and power, thus creating a superb show, and amusement, for the audience.
Located in mid- Bulgaria, 15 km south from Stara Planina Mountain lies the city of Kazanlak, providing excellent infrastructure. From the north side of the mountain, lies Gabrovo Town, just 30km away, from the finish line.
